I popped over and read a blog I used to visit a while ago but stopped when the relentlessness of its negativity toward anything remotely liberal (left wing politics, Maori issues, unions, climate change, Occupy movement, etc) became too rich and hysterical.
Wow. My tolerance for the bigotry that this guy pushes had really dropped away. Yuk.
I guess it’s a good example of this:

Update: fixed the typos. Doh!

Lines are now being drawn in the sand all over the place – its like the late 1920’s and 30’s all over again.
Some people need to look at history perhaps – become a student of same. Spartacus – Wat Tyler – those revolts all eventually failed. They did happen though – and with very reasons and justifications.
Personally i foresee a much greater cloud on the horizon – and it wont fail.
Every Monotheist always looks for a pope – someone to tell them what to do and think and how to act. Or so it seems. Sometimes they even look for scapegoats too.
I sense you have a point.
Reading about the encrusted partisan roadblocks Obama struck in Washington in this loooong New Yorker article

… I’m struck by the intractable nature of political debate when it comes down to ‘no good thing can come from the other side’.
The awful sledging exhibited by the attack dogs is nauseating. Right now it makes engaging seem like a waste of time. Truly.
Leave them to their echo chamber.

I would venture to suggest that the nature of the attacks is actually quite evil in nature. You cannot engage with evil – evil being defined as those who are prepared to use situational or doctrinal ethics or similar process of thought to deny reality or moral imperative.
The unfortunate thing – is that their echo chamber (with a few parallels in history) resonates and is swallowed by many.
Nothing like a mob to up the levels of pitchforks and flaming torches sales.
Never see them as a joke – or a passing fad. They express a viewpoint of a certain percentage of the populace.
What they dont understand – is that there is a revolt coming – that will sweep them and their viewpoints away. The unfortunate thing is – that it wont be a pleasant or politically elegant experience. Those days are long past.
By the time they realise it – it will be too late – for everyone.
