Ugh! Adding insult to injury!

Apropos our discussion about targeting the gullible in Calling all gullible gamblers! and All that glitters is not gold … I guess ‘self-knowledge’ can be seen as by-product? Visit Mark Joyner for more of his personal development brain puzzle cartoons. NOT funny! (Well, OK, just a bit.) Thanks to Sarah for sharing. – P

Greener grass in yonder paddock …

I’ve met the bright guy quoted in this Financial Post story Don’t be tempted by US firesale. It seems he is quoted warning Canadians about buying the wrong type of distressed US property in an article largely warning not to do it at all. How oddly dissonant. It may sound like a dream come true, […]

All that glitters is not gold

All that glisters is not gold; Often have you heard that told … . Food for thought from William Shakespeare’s The Merchant of Venice — quoting legendary fable and proverb collector (plagiarist?) Aesop and forebears. Fool’s gold The mineral pyrite, or iron pyrite, is an iron sulfide with the formula FeS2. This mineral’s metallic luster […]

Is this how Shaun Stenning’s victims bite back?

Wow. At the risk of being terminally self-referencing, I just became aware of a campaign to retweet links to the mammoth comment thread here on ThePaepae.com about the refund movement aimed at Shaun Stenning’s twalk and snipr internet marketing schemes and Dollar Rose ‘investments’ (see Is this how Shaun Stenning handles a request for a refund?) […]

Defamation? Or law of consequences?

Spruiker Mark Hotchin — the face of Hanover Finance (claiming in its TV ads: “This One Weather Update is brought to you by Hanover, a New Zealand business with the size and strength to withstand any conditions“)*, whose operation broke promises to 16,500 investors leaving them out of pocket $554 million and subject to a questionable arrangement […]

Bernard Whimp gets his name in lights … sort of

You may recall my posts ‘Low-ball share buyer Bernard Whimp in action‘ and ‘Bernard Whimp – another suck of the saveloy. No shame?‘ which catalog this unimpressive Christchurch businessman’s questionable, um,  ‘endeavours‘. The Financial Markets Authority announced today it has ordered Bernard Whimp and his associates  to “include a warning from the FMA at the beginning […]

Calling all gullible gamblers!

Two communications arrived in my in-boxes a day apart … and I couldn’t help but see them as similar. Property spruikers Sean Wood and Steve Goodey are soooo keen to get you along to their hyperbolic sales pitch that if you buy a ticket to attend (instead of getting one free from an affiliate, or the […]

More than one way to screw your own online reputation

Like many others I’m following ‘personal development guru’ James Arthur Ray’s manslaughter trial in Arizona, and one of the best ways to do that is reading The Salty Droid’s very colourful and determined coverage. I was pleasantly surprised to see that a local (i.e. New Zealand) blogger whom I have met online, corresponded with and […]

What NOT to do with your ‘charisma’

Business Insider reports on the downfall of a charismatic figure who travelled the world … Hmm, that reminds me of …? Oops. Three to nine years prison. (Oh — and an internet ‘reputation‘ — beyond the reality TV show.) – P

A development in Singapore for Shaun Stenning Twalk refund seekers

Spotted this refund development on Facebook today … … that seems like a reasonable offer from the promoter to me. I would assume they split the ‘proceeds’? Success Resources were also promoting the Stenning performing troupe in Malaysia, I believe.  Any word from there? Thoughts?

Yeah, I thought so all along … waste of space

The email disclaimer emperor has no clothes, according to this article from The Economist … I was never impressed with plonkers like Shaun Stenning fatuously filling up their email disclaimers (example here) with nonsense — it looked like a bush-lawyer’s attempt to intimidate the gullible. As for this mush … The information presented in this […]

Is it worth dishonestly defending a reputation? No.

‘Every saint has a past and every sinner has a future.’ – Oscar Wilde . Reputations — good and bad — are a topic we discuss here at thePaepae.com from time to time. I’m interested in hearing what you think about it (…if anything). Watching the chickens coming home to roost on some of the […]

Thoughts about authenticity – Sean Wood and Steve Goodey enterprises

It strikes me as ironic that the banner ads on PropertyTalk (the site I celebrated and linked to yesterday) now appear to feature ex-Richmastery property spruikers Sean Wood and Steve Goodey in their latest incarnation. Er, yuck. These two wide boys, graduates of (spat out of?) the Phil Jones charm school, have apparently divorced their […]

Just because it is brilliant …

I was browsing an old discussion thread at PropertyTalk Internet Marketing Consultants – suddenly there are so many…. to check when I first expressed, let’s call it ‘skepticism’ about Shaun Stenning/Geekversity (Answer: June 2009) … since I mentioned that here when discussing how his ex-business partners are NOW blowing the whistle on him. It was […]

Shaun Stenning schadenfreude

Despite what some may suspect, I’ve never been big on schadenfreude and, as noted, I despise grave-dancing. So … I feel some concern for the collateral damage inflicted as it seems pretty clear the wheels are falling off the Shaun Stenning wagon train. In the last few days several of his former business partners, associates […]
