Among all the SPAM touting for anatomy-enlargement and performance-enhancing pills and replica watches (for replica people?) and, oh boy, online casino gambling (!) …. I’ve noticed a recent apparent increase in SPAM messages targeting job seekers …

Sometimes the mail uses spoofed sender addresses — including my own! (grump) Naturally, I know I won’t be the only one being impersonated.
Looks like the world’s cynical ‘internet marketing experts’ and their ‘students’ are trying to exploit an apparent upsurge in keyword traffic. Sleazy.
It is apparently the Russians latest spam method. They also take a part of your name as the prefix and spoof that as well. I had around 10 an hour till my ISP sorted it today 🙁
‘Russt never sleeps’, comrade. It must pay off, I guess. Still, small volumes compared to the ubiquitous ‘viagra’ & vicodin promos
I can see all this sludge in my ‘raw’ queue — it gets diverted PDQ by our spam filtering … but the spoofing is just tedious!
So how did your ISP resolve the problem? I have a bunch of users experiencing the same thing… very tedious. 🙂
Transpires that we had a “deliver all” set up on our @[domain] email so ISP turned that off, that dealt with most of it.
Also XTRA searched and banned large IP range. Basically I am down to less than 5 spam emails a day now, woo hoo!!
Thanks. That reminds me, years ago we used to have wildcard@[domain] set to deliver mail to the root email address. It worked for quite a while and meant we could easily say ‘send your entry to bookspecial56@[domain].com’ (or whatever) … and it worked. But spammers sent their garbage to jim, bob, phil, kieran, mary, bill .. etc and we got drowned in it. A quick fix was to disable that and bounce mail that didn’t go to a ‘named’ mail box.

Thank for that. Im looking into it now.
