Congratulations to the winners, commiserations to those who missed out.
These are the results as at close of counting 1:10am today. This is where the rubber hits the road in a democracy.

{Fill the in the rugby metaphor of your choice here. e.g “game of two halves”, “better team on the day”, “hard work in training”, “superior ball handling skills” … etc.}
I’ve said it before: If you want to win an election, get more votes.

It was a very sad day … i have an uncomfortable gnawing feeling that it wasnt a victory that can be attributed to democracy.
Maybe they are putting something in the drinking water ?? Maybe the percentage of voters who put National back in power are manchurian candidates.
Or maybe … sometimes we cant see the wood for the trees and bet on the horse that looks good under the lights and seems a safe “known” bet. Personally i think there’s never been a better time for radical change and risktaking.
The media over this election – in my view – are the losers. Worst associative occurrence ever – shortly after the election … a nice pic of Mike Hoskings $450,000 Ferrari pulling into the TVNZ carpark. The behavour of the Breakfast team over Dotcoms “moment of truth” was perhaps the most galling … at one point dotcom described by the blonde chick presenter as “screeching constantly” (slight paraphrase).
Truth is the first casualty of war perhaps.
Hahaha. Good article here:
