It’s all just a misunderstanding of the question.
And we lawyers pepper our oral submissions with plenty of “I understand…”, “I believe…” and “My client instructs…” – that way we too can resile from almost anything with a quick, “I’m sorry, Your Honour, it appears I was mistaken…” 🙂
