Andrew Sullivan live-blogged the Obama Democrat convention speech and wrapped it up about 11pm with this:
I loved him. But I’m biased. I think he’s been the best thing to happen to America in a long time and he has achieved more in tougher circumstances against historical odds than anyone has a right to expect. I cannot justify supporting this man and his ambitious attempt to re-balance America at home and abroad in 2008 and not helping him see it through to the end.
And I suspect that, even in these difficult times, many will give this sincere man a chance to prove himself and realize his full promise with four more years. You don’t vote for a man who plays a long game and call it quits at half-time. At least Americans don’t.
Good on him. Well said. I hope he’s right.

Except hes only said hes playing a long game after his short game has failed him. Hes all talk no Walk. and his Wife is getting Public speaking lessons from the same coach.
That’s one way of looking at it Craig.
Of course, it’s undeniable that it’s often difficult hard to deliver on simplistic slogans and campaign rhetoric with actual performance in government.
Consider this recent disappointing example …
I have no doubt.
National have produced less Debt than other Partys would have.
have created more jobs than other Partys would have.
Splitting hairs absolutely.
But produced Less debt since winning election Tick.
But of course NZer’s can’t complain because they don’t want National to help tackle the issue and Sell (in a controlled manner) part of some Asset’s.
Created more jobs since getting into office. Well No.
So yes maybe disappointing but its a damn sight better than what we would of alternately got.
Obama campaigned Black and White (no Pun Intended) promises delivered let me count them NONE. and the big Healthcare Plan implementation has proven to most Americans a DISASTER.
But no, dumb people will continue to fall for his Infomercials.
In-fact I will go as far as saying hes guilty of being (something dear to your heart) a Spruiker.
“So yes maybe disappointing but its a damn sight better than what we would of alternately got.”
Oh, Craig.
Would of … i thought the right had the 3 r’s in place. More like the 3 “r’sholes” .. Key / Joyce and ol’ walnut face Collins.
Missed the use of the word alternately…
Nice one. Dats da txt genarayshun 4 yoos bro
Ha! Out of curiosity, I went back to the speech notes of Barack Obama’s 2008 acceptance speech to measure the tone of it for myself compared to last week’s ‘bring you down to earth’ speech.
