ACT’s John Banks appears to be a poodle for Mr Key. On the TV news tonight he was future-pacing standing in Epsom again next year, the beneficiary of another dubious cup-of-tea.

Well, there’s one problem. ACT is supposed to be a libertarian party, but they kept bringing conservative populists on board, completely messing up their “brand”, and now they have an arch-conservative as their only representative in parliament. So where are the libertarians supposed to go?
I’ve always seen ACT as a ginger group, designed by its founders to ‘give backbone’ to the right wing in NZ politics, its ‘policies’ (those declared) subject to cannibalism by the National Party.
John Banks isn’t exactly a poster child for libertarianism. He is a conservative, as I see him, and also an authoritarian (remember him as Police Minister?)
ACT is barely rating in the opinion polls, apparently. But that’s not to say he’s finished. I mean, he’s only 66 (67 in December).

Right wing libertarians are conditional libertarians … its libertarianism as they see it … (the rest of us peasants apparently cant.
Possibly why those libertarian swiss bankers till hold so much illegally and murderously gained Jewish Gold and Artworks perhaps.
They make the reality as they see it …
