If one loses an election (or the candidate/Party one was hoping would win loses it) there are a number of options for dealing with that.
This is all I need to know about the political machinations behind a recent public humiliation … accompanied by a sworn affidavit.

While I may be a hypocrite (I’m accused of it enough), I’ve made discussion of Cameron Slater’s adultery a topic that’s not entertained on this website. So it’s intriguing, given Cameron Slater’s hot and on-going expressions of vitriolic personal animosity toward the NZ Herald and the reporter who published the (very dull) facts of his extra-marital affair after they were exposed in a court judgement, to see him drooling vibrating at such volume about another married man’s infidelity.
We know the true-blue Slaters, er … dislike lefty Len Brown* and are, as a family, great friends of John Banks, whom Mr Brown so robustly defeated for the first Auckland ‘super city’ mayoralty three years ago (and who, it was announced today, will stand trial on charges of [allegedly] filing a false electoral return. Tsk.)
We shouldn’t, I guess, be surprised that the fetid swamp that is Slater junior’s hate blog will never, ever get around to ‘reporting’ (gag) — with or without affidavits — a pattern of night-time disturbance (‘No, this isn’t the right apartment’) which apparently so miffed Jenny Shipley back in the days her Wellington apartment was in proximity to that of one of her Parliamentary colleagues.
No, of course not. There are lines that shouldn’t be crossed.

I’m not a fan of Len Brown … i dont think he has delivered on anything and has only confirmed my suspicion that the Supercity is a flawed money-drinking model.
I wouldnt be sad to see him go.
However what you say in your post is quite correct and reasonable. I wickedly wondered whether it was a Beijing/National Party “honeytrap” a la Cold War Era spying and espionage.
Len is a fool for letting himself be trapped … no question about it.
Those who accuse and pursue him … however … risk their very own souls (and i am not being metaphorical) by doing what they do to bury him …
I dont personally like Len Brown .. and i think he has failed to deliver any real benefits … has allowed huge expenditures to occur that fly in the face of the claiming economies of scale of a Super City.
However … i do have an issue with seeing those with beams in their eyes seeking to take the mote from others eyes …

Mate i have to tell you … words like slut, fuck, shit and others of many and varied hues have meaning … DEEP meaning to people with less opportunity, income and possibilities than you and your circle of friends and indeed your dare i say … wholly manufactured paradigm.

I don’t think it is the woman involved who has ruined any lives Ivan. Sure – her choices in the last week or so have been poor – but not one of the vile men involved in this saga cared about her. She is a person – not a thing to be used – and she was manipulated and used as a pawn by a man who very obviously was emotionally abusing her, and another who loves nothing more than rolling around in mud and muck, who on top of it had nothing to lose. I mean everyone already knows Cameron Slater is a liar undeserving of anyone’s respect.
I don’t agree with what she has done, but i wouldn’t wish what she is going through on my worst enemy. I really hope she has support around her. I don’t know much about Asian culture but it is my understanding that feelings of shame run deep.

Understood Jackie … i have to admit i became somewhat over heated in my response… but Women have to lay aside the natural response of softness and sympathy toward their plight … which is a more Kiwi response than her own community would offer .. she can only thank her lucky stars she isnt Muslim, sikh or Hindu … she would avoid any cooking with propane or liquid fuelled devices particularly near her relatives.
I wouldnt have a clue about the other parties including this chap Slater … now seems to me that all of them are now receiving their due karma … including Palino …
Brown – who doesnt deserve it … may be the winner out of this….. i dont think Ms Chuang is a wallflower nor do i think she is able to be pressured into anything she doesnt want to do. She has no kids … drug habit or extenuating circumstance .. just ambition and a streak of ruthlessness coupled with an affiliation with the National Party.
It appears however … now … she has a conscience .. and she is discovering its voice..
