A few days ago Russell Brown pointed me to this ten minute remix of one the good songs from David Bowie’s excellent The Next Day album (Jay and I discussed the album here somewhere.)
I’ve had it on my phone since then, listening when I’ve been out working up a sweat … it’s very, very cool. Listen for the ‘kick’ about half-way (5’25”) when they include some strands from a classic Bowie song. Great.
Today, after this tune played,* the music went on to the Ziggy Stardust album … and it worked!
Bliss.

PS You can buy the song on an ‘extra’ EP to the The Next Day album here at iTunes.
* This is the slope I was puffing up, listening to this track this afternoon, grateful for a break in the rain and a chance to get out …
Its not to my taste … quite awful, bordering on musical nonsense … and frankly i’ve never understood the devotion to Bowie or Freddy Mercury … or their ilk.
Still – the tone deaf will always have a place among us … lesser mortals.
Fair enough. – P
I have to admit mate … i have great difficulty understanding you on all sorts of levels. I could not exist in your world … particularly the political/journalistic world you seem to inhabit.
But having said that … much of what now passes as communication and lifestyle is a complete mystery to me.
Now here is some quality …at least in my opinion …

On your walk or run through those beautiful surroundings .. i would have found this far more inspiring …
Merry Christmas Pete to you .. your viewership… your family and your other loved ones …
Fabulous choice Ivan. Dvorak’s New World Symphony. Wonderful, of course. We’ll be playing it on the moon bases …
Here:
Whose moon bases … Colin Craigs …???
Heh! Amusing!
No, actually that’s actually a saying at our house … as gauche as it is to quote oneself — (oh, who am I kidding? I do it all the time!)
– P
That is not a satisfactory answer … what does it mean or am i to be kept in the dark forever …
Gauche … you … never
You must learn to be specific instead of twisting and turning to avoid being nailed to a specific viewpoint ..
“We’ll be playing it on the moon bases.”
Means it is a piece of music that will never die.
A classic.

Its my salute to you … Peter …
Ha! Neat!
I wasn’t being in the least bit sarcastic about Surfin’ Safari. It will never die. (I don’t know why people – not just you – think I’m being mean when I ain’t.) – P
Mainly peter … they think you are being mean … simply because you are not a very good communicator …
You entangle your meanings in so much crosstalk and webs of multiple asscoverings .. that your meaning is quite lost …
Sorry. – P
But i still think you are great mate….!!!
And i really do …
